OUR COMMITTEES
Active Minds UCLA is composed of six specialized committees, each focused on a different approach to promote mental health awareness on campus:
- Education – Develops and shares accurate, accessible information about mental health conditions, resources, and coping strategies for the UCLA community.
- Events – Plans and executes large-scale campus events and programming each quarter to raise visibility around mental health.
- Workshops – Runs smaller, interactive sessions—both on campus and in the residence halls ("on the hill")—that give students hands-on tools and open space for dialogue.
- Advocacy – Pushes for improved mental health policies and expanded care resources at the university level.
- Outreach – Builds partnerships and co-programs with other student organizations and community groups to extend the chapter's reach across campus and greater Los Angeles.
- Radio – Produces "Let's Talk About It: Mental Health," a weekly live radio show on UCLA Radio that uses personal stories, music, and community conversation to destigmatize mental health topics, including issues facing underrepresented and neurodivergent students
Together, these six committees let Active Minds UCLA combine traditional advocacy and educational programming with a media/broadcast presence—making the UCLA chapter's approach unusually multifaceted for a student mental health organization.
