2025-2026 directors BOARD

                         EXECUTIVE

Picture
Lucia Cleveland
Hello! My name is Lucia Cleveland, and I am a 4th year Psychology major, minoring in AFAM studies. I joined Active Minds because I have always been passionate about de-stigmatizing mental health— especially within marginalized communities. The community of people I have found at Active Minds has been one of my favorite parts of my UCLA experience. From collectively increasing access to resources on campus, to thoughtfully creating engaging events for our broader community, and generally sharing space with people equally committed to mental health equity, I am so proud to continue expanding on the amazing work of those before me. I love this organization and am so grateful to be part of such an incredible group of people!

Nikki Samaan
Hi, I’m Nikki! I’m a 3rd year Psychology major and Anthropology  on the pre-law track. Coming from a Middle Eastern background, I know firsthand how challenging open conversations about mental well-being can be and Active Minds provided a supportive community where I felt understood and encouraged. Now, as the Executive Director, I’m excited to help others find that same sense of belonging. This year, my goal is to create an even more inclusive environment, where members feel safe to share, connect, and grow together, while also working to bring greater awareness of mental health across campus.

Tanaya Jog
Hi! My name is Tanaya Jog, and I’m a junior at UCLA majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Statistics and Data Science. A little bit about me, I love to dance, paint, and play the guitar! I joined Active Minds because I’m deeply passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health and encouraging others to prioritize their mental well-being. I was also drawn to the supportive and welcoming community of people who share similar goals and passions. Active Minds has always been an inclusive and safe space for me, and I want to ensure it continues to be that for others. I aspire to foster a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported while working together to create greater access to mental health resources.

Hi! My name is Carol, I'm a 3rd year psychobio major, and I am from Oakland, CA! Some of my favorite hobbies include gaming, hiking, cafe hopping, going to concerts, and hanging out with friends! I joined Active Minds because I'm passionate about expanding mental health initiatives, de-stigmatizing conversations surrounding mental health, and advocating for a holistic approach to health and wellness. Additionally, the community I've found within Active Minds has allowed me to find my place in UCLA and create everlasting friendships that make my college experience unique and special. This year as marketing director, I hope to expand the Active Minds network, become more involved in campus-wide healthcare events, and make new memories!

Emily Benjamin
Hi!! My name is Emily, and I’m one of the Education Directors! I’m a 4th year Psychology major, with a minor in LGBTQ+ studies. I joined Active Minds because I wanted to learn more about mental health, as well as ways we can de-stigmatize our conversations about it. I love Active Minds and I’ve learned so much through being involved with AM! One of my goals this year is to break down barriers regarding access to both mental health knowledge and care, both across UCLA campus and the greater LA area!

Hi! My name is Golnaz and I’m a 3rd year Psychology major. I joined Active Minds my freshman year because I wanted to help spread awareness about the importance of mental health on our campus and the greater LA community! This is my second year as an Education director and I’m excited to continue fostering a safe space for students to feel supported with adequate resources! I also want to implement engaging events while  collaborating with other committees because the active minds community is just the best! :)

Workshops

Angel Palos Delgado

Hey! My name is Angel Palos Delgado and I am a junior majoring in Psychology. Some of my interests include having matcha, collecting stuffed animals/trinkets, and listening to pop music with artists alike Conan Gray & Olivia Rodrigo. I decided to join Active Minds because I have a passion for advocating the importance of taking care of one's mental health seeing as it can also affect the body physically. Additionally, I joined the organization as I wanted to meet people interested in the field of psychology as someone who wants to pursue a career in clinical psychology. Goals I hope to achieve this year are to become more acquainted with people in the club, help new members feel comfortable in participating & voicing their opinions within the club, and become more confident in public speaking. :)

Workshops

Dan Pham

Hi! I'm a junior majoring in Psychology with a minor in Entrepreneurship. Growing up in Vietnam, I witnessed how young people were expected to 'chịu đựng'--to endure in silence--because admitting mental struggles was viewed as weakness, a burden to others, or even a source of family shame, leaving most to suffer in silence. This stigma fueled my commitment to normalizing mental wellness and creating culturally-informed spaces. Thus, I joined Active Minds because of our shared mission: to mobilize youth to transform mental health norms.
Over the past two years, I’ve served as a Workshops Committee member, Radio Host, and Events Director, consistently dedicated to making mental health visible, accessible, and stigma-free. As Workshops Director, I aim to create workshops that go beyond raising awareness, equipping students with lasting strategies and practical tools to care for themselves and to uplift those around them.

Events

Picture
Amelie Gantert
Hi! My name is Amelie and I'm a fourth year psychology and history double major. I decided to join Active Minds because the mission of the organization aligns greatly with my values and goals: I recognize the importance in de-stigmatizing mental health issues around the UCLA community, as well as among broader society. I want to be able to create safe spaces for students to connect with their peers, relax, have fun, and take their mind off anything that may be weighing them down day-to-day. Through my involvement within the Events committee and for the future of Active Minds, I hope to expand our outreach, collaborations with other organizations and clubs, and maintain our viable presence in UCLA student life!

Kaden Chai
Hi! I am Kaden and I am a fourth year psychobiology major. In my free time I love playing music (I play cello, piano and guitar!) and playing games. I love playing RPGs such as Persona 5 Royal and Final Fantasy VII and X as well as fighting games like Street Fighter 6, but I'll basically play anything people say is good. I decided to join Active Minds because I wanted to be a part of changing the stigma around mental health and making a positive impact. During the pandemic, the higher-ups at my high school disregarded student mental health issues and refused to give a wellness day that would have benefited the student population greatly during such hard times. This ultimately motivated me to try and make this change surrounding the conversation around mental health so that students and adults alike would begin to take the issue more seriously. Going into my third year in Active Minds, I hope to create a lot of fun and engaging events, while also following up on and improving upon the legacy of the Events directors before us.

Advocacy

Picture
Vincent Li
Hello! I'm Vincent (or Vinnie!), and I'm a second year Psychobio major! I decided to join Active Minds, because mental health is an important topic that needs to be destigmatized, especially as it continues to affect our communities. Coming from a traditional Chinese family and being a first-gen student, I understand the struggles of mental health and how that has affected everyone around me. I hope to be a part of the change that our school and community needs for mental health and advocating for change, whether that's having deep discussions or creating events around campus and LA. Outside of Active Minds, I enjoy playing videos games, specifically open-world games and story games. I also love, love, love Studio Ghibli (shoutout to Totoro!) and spending time with family and friends.

Advocacy

Picture
Jocelyn Ortega
Hi! My name is Jocelyn and I'm passionate about promoting mental health, de-stigmatizing mental health conversations, and expanding access to services for underserved communities. Being a part of Active Minds has given me the opportunity to advocate for these causes by coordinating mental health initiatives to both students and the local community. I believe mental health is an essential part of overall well-being, and everyone, regardless of their background, should have access to the care they need. Through my involvement, I hope to help drive meaningful change and service within our communities!

I joined Active Minds because I wanted to be a part of a community who is passionate about spreading mental health awareness and works to reduce stigma regarding accessing mental health support. This year as Outreach Co-Director, I aim to curate events that allow us to connect our fellow bruins and the broader Los Angeles community to Mental health resources. I look forward to reaching our community by providing self care necessities, educational opportunities, and acts of kindness this year!

Rayana Ladd
I joined Active Minds in my first year, and it's been an amazing experience to be part of an initiative that advocates for mental health, opens up conversations, and builds a supportive campus environment. On the Outreach Committee, I'm excited to keep growing our community, reaching more students, and creating supportive spaces for well-being.

Sadie Stevens
Hey I’m Sadie Fox and I joined active minds because I believe mental health is an important and underestimated aspect of a persons wellbeing. Especially as college students, we tend to ignore our mental health more than we should and I believe that active minds is a place to connect and understand that part of us. I hope to help increase awareness and normalize mental health through radio this year, as well as teach valuable strategies for navigating the complex topics of it!

Shea Townley
Hi! I'm Shea, and I'm a fourth-year Psychology major. I joined Active Minds because I've always been passionate about mental health advocacy and wanted a community to continue to share that passion with at UCLA. I value working towards making quality mental health care more accessible and widely accepted. As Radio Director, my goal for the year is to establish a creative outlet that enables us to connect with our school and community on topics related to mental health.

Heyyyy :) I’m Siya, a junior majoring in MCDB, and I serve as the Finance Director of Active Minds UCLA! I’m from OC and enjoy hiking, cooking, reading, and more. I’ve been an advocate for destigmatizing mental health all throughout high school with an organization called Bring Change to Mind and joined Active Minds to continue this journey in a bigger community, serving our campus and the greater LA. My goal is to be able to allocate and ensure adequate funding for all of our amazing, impactful events. I also hope to aid Active Minds in making a greater impact on the LA community this year and hopefully onwards!

Nicole Mazaheri
Hi! My name is Nicole, and I am a 3rd year Psychobiology major. I am the Director of Corporate Relations for Active Minds! I decided to join Active Minds as I was always very passionate about mental health awareness and wanted to help others feel comfortable talking about the subject of mental health. Through my involvement, I hope to raise more awareness to students about the mental health resources available at UCLA and help promote a supportive atmosphere of peers who truly care about mental wellness. Additionally, I hope to collaborate with more mental-health focused organizations to further accomplish our goal.

Mili Pavagadhi
Hi! My name is Mili and I’m a third year! I decided to join Active Minds because of its amazing, inclusive, and encouraging community. I also want to work towards destigmatizing conversations of mental health with others who are just as passionate about it as me. My goal is to foster a safe place to talk about mental health, share personal stories, and learn about creating an inclusive environment to allow everyone to feel comfortable, seen, and supported.

Intern

Picture
Hillary Himaya
Hi everyone! My name is Hillary Himaya and I’m a second-year Psychology major, minoring in Global Health! I decided to join Active Minds because I’ve always been a huge advocate for spreading mental health awareness and providing service in any way possible. To me, Active Minds became a safe space to socialize, heal, and talk about conversations that are not as often talked about. Together, we listen, adapt, and learn how to support one another during hardships and share ideas on how to voice those who feel unheard. As an intern, I hope to spread compassion, trust, and kindness onto all Bruins. Through partnerships, events, and service, I aspire to let  all children, teens, and adults upon and beyond the Los Angeles area know that it’s okay to ask and receive help. I’m dedicated to promoting resources and having conversations to help students learn more about themselves in their process of healing :)
